Website security

How this website is protected, what we will never ask your business for, and the checks that help finance and operations teams avoid fake brokers and payment fraud.

  • Encrypted HTTPS on every page

How we keep the website secure

Every page of mybusinesscomparison.com is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Because the website does not collect quote details, business information or payments, there is no customer database here that could be exposed.

  • WordPress, its theme and plugins are kept up to date with security releases.
  • Access to manage the website is limited to the people who need it, with strong passwords.
  • The website is monitored for malware and unexpected changes.
  • No advertising or third-party tracking scripts run without your consent.

The privacy policy explains the limited personal information we do handle.

What we will never ask your business for

MyBusinessComparison.com does not sell insurance, take payments or manage policies. We will never contact you or your staff to ask for:

  • Payment for a policy, a deposit or an admin fee
  • Business bank details or card numbers
  • Passwords, one-time codes or login details
  • Copies of ID, accounts, vehicle documents or claims records

If you receive an email, call, text or social media message claiming to be MyBusinessComparison.com and asking for any of these, do not reply or pay. Forward it to info@mybusinesscomparison.com so we can warn others.

Checking you have reached our partner

When you choose a quote button, a short message tells you that you are being passed to our partner. You then leave mybusinesscomparison.com for MyMoneyComparison.com, a comparison service that can match your business with specialist brokers.

Before entering any details, check the address bar. The address should start with https://www.mymoneycomparison.com or https://quote.mymoneycomparison.com. If it shows a different or misspelt address, close the page and contact us.

A padlock is not proof on its own

The padlock only shows the connection is encrypted. Fake websites can have one too, so the address is the thing to check.

Protect your business from insurance and payment fraud

Businesses buying commercial cover are targeted by fake brokers, cloned firms and criminals who intercept emails about premium payments. A fake policy can leave premises, staff or vehicles uninsured without anyone realising. These checks are worth building into how your business buys cover:

  1. Check the firm is authorised

Search the FCA Financial Services Register (opens in a new tab) for the broker or insurer, and use the phone number and website shown there, not those in an email or advert.

  2. Watch for clone firms

A real firm's name with a different phone number, email domain or website is a common sign of a clone. The FCA publishes warnings about known clones.

  3. Verify any change of bank details

If an email or invoice asks your business to pay a premium to new bank details, call the broker on a number you already hold before paying. Payment diversion fraud often starts with a convincing email.

  4. Be wary of pressure and unusual payment requests

Very low prices, pressure to pay today, or requests to pay a personal account are warning signs.

  5. Check the cover is real

Contact the insurer named on the schedule or certificate to confirm the policy. For vehicles, askMID (opens in a new tab) shows whether each one is on the Motor Insurance Database.

Reporting a security issue

If you think you have found a security problem with mybusinesscomparison.com, or have seen a website, advert or message pretending to be us, email info@mybusinesscomparison.com with as much detail as you can, such as links, screenshots and dates. Please leave out personal and payment details.

If your business has lost money to a scam, contact your bank straight away. Report fraud to Action Fraud (opens in a new tab) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, or to Police Scotland on 101 in Scotland. The Insurance Fraud Bureau (opens in a new tab) also takes reports about fake insurance.

FAQs

Security questions

What businesses ask us about staying safe.

Is mybusinesscomparison.com safe to use?

Yes. Every page is encrypted with HTTPS, and the website does not ask for personal, business or payment information. It explains business cover and links to MyMoneyComparison.com when you want quotes.

Will MyBusinessComparison.com ever ask my business to pay?

No. We are not an insurer or broker and never take payments. If anyone asks your business to pay MyBusinessComparison.com for cover, do not pay and forward the message to us.

How do I know I have reached the real MyMoneyComparison.com?

Check the address bar before entering details. It should start with https://www.mymoneycomparison.com or https://quote.mymoneycomparison.com. If the address looks different or misspelt, close the page.

What is a clone firm?

A clone firm copies the name and details of a genuine authorised firm to look real, usually with a different phone number or website. Checking the FCA register and using the contact details shown there avoids them.

We received an email changing our broker's bank details. What should we do?

Do not pay until you have called the broker on a number you already hold and confirmed the change. Emails changing bank details are a common route for payment diversion fraud.

How do I report a message pretending to be you?

Forward it to info@mybusinesscomparison.com with any links or screenshots, and do not reply or pay. If money has been lost, contact your bank straight away and report it.
